Memorial Celebration for Stephanie
Donation protected
Our dear friend Stephanie Cohen passed away in 2013 from cancer. Stephanie was a deeply loved daughter, sister, friend, sorority sister, and co-worker. This event will be a day of remembrance and a celebration of life, as well as a way to raise money for an incredible cause, "Candlelighters for Children with Cancer."
Candlelighters is a nonprofit local organization that provides support and advocacy for children with cancer and their families. They do so many amazing things: a family camp in the summer that allows children with cancer a chance to have fun and bond with others; activities like dinners and carnivals to help families connect to others going through the same thing; education groups to help families access resources and make informed choices; and bereavement and grief counseling. Their motto is: It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Learn more about Candlelighters at http://www.4kidswithcancer.org/.
Currently, our plan is to have a gathering of Steph's family, co-workers, and friends at George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego. We'll have the barbecues going, a beautiful park to explore, and a short (about 1 mile) "remembrance walk," at the end of which people will have the opportunity to share a favorite memory of Stephanie. In order to raise money for Candlelighters, we plan to use this site as a fundraising forum. We plan to have T-Shirts made for those who donate, as well as a variety of prizes.
