50 for my 50th

Donation protected
Hey all, in one month I turn 50.

I'm not big on these milestones, but they do afford us good opportunities to take perspective and, occasionally, action.

Mary Jean has been encouraging me to do the latter (I do more than enough of the former).  We came up with this action: use the occasion of my 50th to raise money for a great cause—our daughter's middle school.

Park Slope Collegiate  (M.S. 464) is a 6-12 public school that was profiled in the US media many times last fall, in commemoration of the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision. While NYC's public schools are the most segregated of any large US city's, Park Slope Collegiate is succeeding in bucking that terrible trend.

But like most public schools, it never gets the funding it needs. And because PSC serves many low-income families, the PTA's budget is a fraction of that of many other schools—even public ones.

My goal is to get 50 donations to support PSC by my 50th birthday on May 20.

Thanks for making a contribution. You all give me hope for the next 50.
