I ❤ SFDRA

SFDRA is recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization with a mission to improve the lives, health and education of those who are deaf or hard of hearing in South Florida.
My name is Victor Solano and I created South Florida Deaf Recreation Association. Being deaf does not define who I am or what I can accomplish. I have a family. I make people laugh. I travel. It’s all about knowledge. It’s all about the heart.
Our board of directors is made up of individuals who are also deaf, as well as individuals who are involved professionally or socially with those who are deaf. They have a great deal of experience, knowledge and understanding of the needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing. But we cannot do it alone. All money that is donated to SFDRA will help enhance the lives for people who are deaf so they feel fully included in their family and their community. Our motto is that “we provide possibilities to create capabilities”.
The mission of South Florida Deaf Recreation Association is to provide activities that help to foster independence, community spirit and deaf pride.
Members of the deaf community do not consider their deafness a disability and they are proud of their thriving culture, with its shared language, arts, values, history, community experience and identity. SFDRA provides a way of expressing belonging and kinship in a kinetic way, free from communication barriers.
SfDRA focuses on creating a healthy community for people who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing resources and connections through planned activities and programs that will instill a sense of belonging and spirit of cooperation.
SFDRA does not charge for membership. In order to continue with our programs and activities we look to you for help. Every donation is important, no matter how small, to help reach our goal.
Thank you for your support! All donations are tax-deductible! No amount is small. Any amount is appreciated!
