The 6 boys in the picture above decided to "try out" a new class at their home school enrichment program this year, called Destination Imagination .
In this program, they got to pick out a category in which they would complete a "challenge".
The categories they got to choose from were Technical, Scientific, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Structural and Service Learning.
They chose the Structural challenge and named themselves the "Master Builders". They spent months learning how to work as a team, listening to each other's ideas, making mistakes, as well as wonderful successes.
Since this was their first year competing in DI, they really just planned on doing their best, but not expecting much.
Well, they went to Regionals and then moved on to the State tournament... and at the State tournament, won 2nd place!!
Yes!! They are the 2nd place team in Tennessee for the elementary Structural challenge!!
This means they are now invited to compete at the DI Global Finals in Knoxville, May 20-23, with over 1,400 teams from 45 states, 7 Canadian provinces and 13 countries!!
We are all excited and overwhelmed!!
Most teams begin fundraising for Global Finals months in advance. This was our first year participating in DI, so we didn't know to do that. (plus, again... we were really just planning on getting our "feet wet" with DI)
We now have 38 days to come up with $8000 for these kids to be able to participate in this program.
We would be honored by any amount you could offer to help these boys... No amount is too small or large. $5... $500... We are grateful for any donations.

Also, I'm sure the boys would love a note if you want to say hi to one or more of the boys when you donate. ;)
