\Update! I am so thankful for all of the support I received for my Study Abroad this Summer, but it will have to be pushed to Summer Term 2013 since we didn't have the required 15 LAVC students to go. At first, I was sad by this, but then I realized from watching the Inspiration video on Easter Sunday:
"Our desires don't arrive on our schedule, they arrive when they are supposed to."
I found out that I will have to go next Summer Term 2013, which is even more beneficial, I eventually realized, since I will have completed the last 3 classes for my Associate of Spanish degree and this Study Abroad will be the closure I need to work on my fluency in the language.
So, keep sharing my link and I will keep you informed of my own personal goals I've achieved to get ready as well! Summer Term 2013 will be here before I know it and I really want to document this journey on video for sharing with you.
I am so grateful to everyone who has shared and donated to my Study Abroad Campaign. I'm hoping for more cheerful givers and share partners.
Have a safe and happy Easter!
I am so close to achieving my first milestone of 25% of the LAVC Study Abroad Program this Summer. I have to submit it to the school on next Thursday, April 12th! If you believe in me and this educational endeavor, please share this post with your friends and family and if you would like, donate. :D
Thank you so much!
Oh my! I've received a donation from a special person from my salsa family! Thank you so much, Errol! I am so filled with gratitude...this opportunity means so much to me! I'm so happy for your donation to help in my educational journey abroad. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Update! Today I just heard from my professor, at LAVC, that the deposit and final payment dates for the program have been moved UP! Oh boy! This means that I will have to pick up the pace!
I love working under pressure but in order to make this work, I need your help! Please share my campaign link http://www.gofundme.com/selenastudyabroad

'Por qué estudian español' es un video que encontré en español. Yo estudio español porque a mí, me gusta la cultura, el arte, la música, y es importante para la comunicacíon en los angeles.
Para estudiar en Alicante, España es muy importante para mí. Donar y Compartir.
These people share the same reasons why I want to study abroad...learning is powerful and life-changing!
So...I took the Spanish Language Placement Exam and I will be studying at the University of Alicante on an Advanced Spanish Level I! I was a little nervous, but like I told you, I'm great with reading and writing the language, but this hands-on experience will do me a whole lot of good with conversing! I can admit that I need this! :D
I need your help to reach my goal! Any donation amount will go a long way! Share this also with everyone you know. There are people 0ut there who can relate!
Thanks and Big Hugs!
Thank you so much Ben for your generous donation! It's good to see dreams come true and that you're apart of making mine come true!
You're the best!
Before I can study at the University of Alicante I had to complete the online Spanish Language Placement Exam which measures my skill level in the language. They use my code score to place me in the correct level of studies for this summer.
Thank you to all who have donated thus far and I look forward to more generous givers and make sure to share this with others you know! thanks! :)
To have the opportunity to live with a spanish family and learn their customs and learn to speak their language fluently, will be a dream come true.
Share my campaign with others! You never know who in your circle of friends and family can relate!
Thank you, TNT Coleman for the enriching comment. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity. I am truly grateful with tears in my eyes! I am going to learn, learn, and learn some more! I have been very fortunate to see people beyond their skin color, while serving in the US Army and it has given me a better perspective on people.
I really feel in my soul that this opportunity is another piece to the puzzle as I seek my purpose to help the greater good in this life.
I am truly grateful for your generous gift!
Thank you to my Goddaughter, Imani and her mom/my friend, Monique for their generous donation! I am so blessed to have you both in my life. I look forward to doing your video dedication!
Imani, this is another example of how YOU can be whatever you want to be if you believe and work really hard! I believe in you!
Sometimes you need a good kick in the butt to make things happen or to progress through life and that's why I am going to study Spanish in Alicante, España!
Since I will be restricted to only speaking Spanish during my studies, I will build more confidence and finally feel just as confident speaking to other Spanish-speakers as I do when I read and write the language.
Please share and donate!
Every gift counts, no matter the amount!
I would like to personally thank the following friends, thus far, for donating to my study abroad opportunity.
I have tears in my eyes right now because I'm so grateful to you all.

Did you know?
Alicante was a walled city up to the 19th Century. In 1858 the Queen Isabel II came to Alicante to inaugurate the train leaving from Madrid. Taking the opportunity and in view that the growth of the city was restricted by the walls, the Queen was asked for authorisation to demolish the walls. This was the beginning of the growth of the city. http://www.gofundme.com/selenastudyabroad
HELP THIS ARMY VETERAN STUDY SPANISH IN ALICANTE!
Thank you so much
for visiting my page. I have the most amazing opportunity of a lifetime to study Spanish in Alicante, Spain, for my Summer semester 2013 through The Center for Cross-Cultural Study (CCCS)!
I was hoping to study abroad with the financial assistance I receive from the Post 911 GI Bill, since I am a US Army Veteran. However, it is not covered in my program according to my academic plan for my Associates degree in Spanish. In order for me to improve my fluency, in Alicante, I would have to find other funding.
The Summer study abroad program would require me to be submerged in the Spanish language 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and not speak English AT ALL, which is a crutch that I seem to use, currently, to translate what I hear and read in Spanish. This program would be the kick in the butt I need to challenge myself in a way that forces me to face my fear of uncertainty and just open my mind to accepting what I know is right when I speak Spanish. This program will definitely do that for me!
I feel that it is very important for me to speak the language as well as I can read and write it because I would be available to help people in the Spanish community in Los Angeles. I want to understand their perspectives. This would be an amazing chance to live with a Spanish-speaking family, expand my understanding of their culture, the arts, and take extensive classes at the University of Alicante. We would also be able to build friendships and learn from each other while on the cultural tours and in classes.
I'm hoping that I can get a few people to help by investing in this very educational endeavor of mine. Thank you for being there for me as I attempt to reach my goal to travel abroad to Alicante, Spain June 30-July 28, 2013!
CCCS Program Cost: $3000 is due: 6/1/13 with my application)
