Mather High School Performance

The Engaging Educator (EE) believes that Improv helps you improve - whether you are a teacher, leader or lifelong learner.

Through improv education, we at EE are teaching teachers, corporations, and students to be present, to be better listeners, to communicate effectively, to think about the larger ‘we’ versus the singular ‘I’, and to take initiative in their lives.

For the past two years, we've been working with Mather Building Arts and Craftsmanship High School  in Manhattan. We've seen incredible changes in confidence, self-esteem, positive risk-taking and teamwork...plus they are HILARIOUS.

So we're taking this show on the road, so to speak.

Students rehearsing Pan Left

The auditorium at Mather isn't the best for acoustics, lights or slightly nervous teens and a whole school catcalling at students taking risks in a fully improvised show. These performing arts students are ready for a real space and a real show for their families, friends and supporters. And that's where you come in.

We've rented the Playroom Theatre and are prepping for a short form improv show on May 7th at 5:00pm. The kids will be coming from school into an immediate dress/tech rehearsal and directly into the show - and are making invitations as you read this.

We're not looking for much - but these students deserve to feel like more people than just their teachers and EE are supporting them, regardless of their physical presence in the audience. Some of them will have friends in the audience, some parents, some have already told me they won't have anyone there so I can give away their spots.

You're paying for the theatre rental, pizza for the teens on the way over and a flower for each of them after the show. We'll be recording the show and taking photos, so you'll get to see the students that you helped to get off-Broadway

Even if 100 people give $5 - you 100 people believe in these students. And while many of them won't grow up to be actors or improvisers, this experience and your support will stay with these 10 brave positive risk-takers.
