We are seeking funding to send 15 students and 5 mentors to the 2017 FIRST World Festival in Houston, Texas April 19-22, 2017.
On Saturday December 10th, 2016, the Joe Walker Science Jets attended the Los Angeles Regional FIRST Lego League Robotics Championships.
The Science Jets won the event with a Judges award and the Champions Award!! The Champions Award is the top award that can be earned at an FLL event! This qualifies the team to attend the FIRST World Festival in Houston Texas next April. While many Antelope Valley High School Teams have attended the FIRST World Festival in the past, this is the first time in the 25 year history of the event that a Jr. High First Lego League team has won from our valley!! The Joe Walker team has been working towards this event for 8 years and now it is our turn to go!! We are extremely excited!!
The Joe Walker Science Jets team is based on teamwork, group planning and cooperation. That is the real essence of our team. Our emphasis is on advanced learning in science through active research, hands-on activities, and group participation. We will be one of two teams representing the 375 teams in the entire Los Angeles region. We will also be one of only eight teams that will represent over 1500 teams in California. As you can see this accomplishment is huge!
We would like you to become a partner with us to help us attend the FIRST World Festival. Our program is independently funded by individuals and companies like you. We are seeking donations to help get these brilliant young engineers to Houston! Please support the Joe Walker Science Jets.
