Clean Water for La Gonave, Haiti

THE LAST DAY TO DONATE WILL BE MAY 15TH, 2014!

Help us save lives!

Did you know that 884 million people do not have access to safe drinking water?  That's about 12.5% of the world's population that has to drink from dirty water just to survive.  We put clean water in toilets while some people can't even put it in their cups.

We are the Sand Creek InvenTeam and we are working to create a system for safe, sustainable and affordable drinking water for the island of La Gonave, Haiti.  There are about 100,000 people that live on La Gonave, and 80% of them do not have access to clean water.

LA GONAVE:
Where 1 of every 13 children die before their 5th birthday.
Where 1 of every 3 children are infected with intestinal parasites.
Where diarrhea causes more deaths than any other illness.
Where 80% of people have no access to basic health care.
Where fewer than half of people can read.

To give our project legs, we are presenting our innovation at EurekaFest at MIT this June, and we have developed a solid partnership with Starfysh, the leading aid organization in La Gonave.  We hope to implement the development of our filters on La Gonave starting in 2015.  For more information on our project, please visit our website here and "like" us on Facebook.
