Blake Beckford Support Fund

We have set up this page on behalf of Blake Beckford’s family.

Blake has been a key role model in my life and a true inspiration and I know he has been these things to many of you- Blake has not stopped spreading awareness of IBD and living with an Ostomy. We know how much Blake’s been through having battled Ulcerative Colitis for 10+ years and having to have his bowel removed in 2013 and enduring many complications and having to be fed by TPN and 2 emergency surgeries to this new brain condition diagnosed in February 2015.

Blake was diagnosed with having an Arnold Chiari Malformation with a rare secondary life-long  and debilitating condition called syringomyelia. He had brain surgery in March 2015 but unfortunately he has been very poorly since due to a number of complications.

He developed Chemical Meningitis after surgery, and he is currently being cared for in a hospital 3 hours away from his home. The recent MRI scan has shown numerous complications which include Blake’s cerebellum having dropped back into the brainstem,  unexplained fluid on the top  left side of his brain, low CSF (Brain Fluid)around the brain and spinal cord, split internal stitches and the newly created  patch on the brain is leaking. He has also suffered nerve damage and still waiting for more tests to see the extent of this as you can imagine Blake’s health has deteriorated and he’s in pretty poor shape.

*** Update On Blakes Health*** May 2015

Blake has now been battling secondary Meningitis called Aseptic meningitis, Blake has also been battaling Hygromas, and now recently diagnosed with Hydrochephalis and his brain is rejecting the graft on the brain as well as various other complications and needing more tests.

Blake’s mum and partner have been right by his side supporting him and holding his hand the whole time, however they too are 3 hours from home, paying huge bills in accommodation, fuel, parking, and food and everything else and it’s all really adding up!

Many people would be unaware Blake's self- employed and he has no idea I’ve set up this page for his family! Lots of family members, friends and Blake’s loyal supporters have asked if they can help in any way and having his family by his side would mean the world to him.

This money will not only help pay towards them being at the hospital with Blake but also help Blake get back on his feet after all of this and get himself better, because unfortunately we still aren't clear what kind of life Blake will be facing.

So please even if you donate £1 it really helps this family who have been through so much over the last couple of years and I know they would be truly grateful of any support or help you can give Blake and his partner, they have faced some of the biggest and unbelievable challenges together and continue to both do so with a smile, staying positive and putting others first and they need something amazing to happen for them! They are a truly inspirational couple!

We are praying that Blake will be back on his feet  and continuing his fight in raising awareness and supporting others.

Blake really is one in a million!
