Dear friends of the Chemic
The Chemic Tavern is a much loved community pub in Woodhouse Leeds. Running the business has been an increasing struggle in recent months. This is a result of massive overheads and a lack of cash flow. The pub was taken on by three friends in 2013 when it faced closure, doomed to become another boarded up pub.
The three of us took it on as our first buisness with no capital behind us and we have ran it succesfully up until this point, now however the cash flow problem has finally become too great.
In a normal week (without any repairs or issues) the pub ran at a 2.3% profit margin. This worked out at around £60 profit per week if we have a good week.
Last month we received our business rates bill for the year, this bill has been increased by a staggering 31% and it’s killing us. We are in the process of appealing our new rates but this is a lengthy procedure and we fear that we don’t have enough time to see the appeal through.
We need desperatly to keep the wolf from the door, with a cash injection so we do not get into further debt. All your help is most welcome, thanks for your time and Support.
