My name is Zakeri Sawyer. A couple years ago I decided to move to Africa after graduating high school instead of going away to college. In October of 2014, I finally did. I left behind my friends, co-workers and most importantly my family. For the first two months after landing in Kenya i volunteered at a childrens orphanage. I learned a lot about how to live their way and i got to help out around the orphanage as well. After I left the orphanage i headed to a remote village named Mutunduri in Embu county. There, I met a family whom did not have a last name but did have many struggles they had to face day to day, one of them being AIDS. Shannon, who is only nine, has to live with it every day. Her mother passed away from AIDS early on. Her grandmother takes care of her now. My hope with this campaign is to raise money to send back to the family with which they can buy a cow or other livestock which then will constantly produce money for the family and that way they will have some sort of income to buy the necesary drugs Shannons needs to stay alive and feel well. Though I am now back in the United States i will never forget the families i met in Kenya and all they taught me. I hope to one day be able to visit Mutunduri again and see Shannon all grown up and well thanks to everyones help and donations.
