We have officially signed a lease on a new location for SCA! Our wonderful landlord, Lynette Lizama Villagomez, reached out to us a few months ago after we posted about our urgent need for a new space for SCA. She offered to give us a 10 year lease on her huge 6000 square meter piece of land for an affordable price in order to help the people and animals of Saipan.
WE ARE NOT MOVING YET!!! There is still a LOT to do before the land is ready for move in. It is completely undeveloped and will need to be bulldozed and cleared before we can even begin to think of fencing, kennels, or building a new clinic complete with power, water, and sewage.
We hope to be able to accomplish all of this in the next 6 months, but that is dependent on the Zoning Board's decision about whether to allow us to keep operating at our current place while we get the new location ready for move in. We encourage you to send in a letter of support if you haven't already! You can send us an email at [email redacted], message us on social media, or drop off a letter in person at our clinic.
If the Zoning Board does not grant us this extension, we will have to stop all operations by the end of July and will not be able to renew the lease at our current location. SCA cannot afford even a temporary cessation of services; it is likely that we would have to close permanently. We would be faced with the prospect of finding homes for the 100+ animals in our care, and with the prospect of being forced to euthanize those who could not be re-homed.
