Save Butterscotch and her pups!

Donation protected
My dog Mini and I were driving in Downtown Phoenix.  I spotted another dog running wild through busy traffic.  She looked horrible.  Matted, filthy, homeless.  I drove over to her twice and got out but twice she ran from me scared.

I remembered that I had a can of cat food in a grocery bag in the car.  I got out and opened it up as close to her as I could get.  She ran over instantly and devoured the entire can.  It's then when I tried petting her head to establish trust.  I took off my sweatshirt and wrapped her in it.  To be honest she was so gross I didn't want to touch her.  I swooped her up and put her in my passenger seat.  Mini was quite surprised that I returned to the car with this stray dog.

She slept the entire way home.  I then gave her 2 baths, pulled thorns out of her, cut her matted fur, and shaved her face due to the amount of gunk that wouldn't come off.  While handling her I realized she had quite the set of "nursies" and a full belly.

I took her to Petsmart to scan her for a chip... nothing.  Next stop was my beloved vet who confirmed that she is pregnant and gave me some contact info for animal rescues.

None of the rescues called me back, but I did receive some stellar advice from a friend in the animal business.
Due to the condition that this dog is in and the amount of love I have for her I have decided to take matters into my own hands and help her out myself.  I am going to care for her and find proper homes for her puppies when they arrive.

I call her Butterscotch.  She's extremely loving and loyal after just 2 days.  She's incredibly respectful of my home and other pets.  But she is in bad shape.  She vomits trash and sticks daily.  That part is incredibly sad.  Her mouth and teeth are the same color as her eyes... dark brown.

She is malnourished and her puppies will literally get liquid trash for milk if I can't get her healthy in time for them.

In the past, I have funded all required efforts in adopting my pets.  But I wasn't planning on this one.  I can't afford it due to my own medical expenses during the past year & those of my dog Mini (recently adopted from the streets herself).

During my health struggles I often contemplated doing a fund-raiser.  But I coudn't justify it with all the help my partner and family had already given me.  But for an innocent animal I am more than ok with it.  She deserves it.  She's estimated to be around 8 years old and has had many liters.  She needs a warm loving home and great care from this point on.  This is what the money raised will go towards...

* Vet care and fees.  She obviously needs to see a vet. There is the possibility of birthing issues due to her health and not knowing what type of dog the "father" is.

* Grooming!  I'm pretty good at it, but there is just certain stuff that a bath won't take care of.

* Food - she needs high quality puppy food to get in better health.  The puppies will need food after 8 weeks as well.

* Getting spayed after the puppies come!!!!!!!!!!

* Re-housing fees for new pups.

*Dental work - the vet estimated quite a few teeth being pulled due to how rotten her little mouth is.

* The basics - bed, blankets, towels for puppies, puppy pen, doggy shampoo (and lots of it!) Frontline for flea and ticks (already gave her a dose), leash, collar, nail clippers, etc.  It adds up fast.

* Vaccinations after the pups pop.

For those of you who don't know me, I am an avid animal rights activist and promote pet adoptions.

Some may say I am the "stray whisperer".  I can't tell you how many dogs I have rescued and reunited with their owners, or found new homes for.

God has bestowed on us a wonderful gift.  We are the care takers of domestic animals.  It's a blessing but can be difficult.  People donate to animal rescues all the time and who knows where that money goes, really.  So I figured I can care for her myself the best that I possibly can and these donations will go directly to the source.

Any and all amounts help.  Anything extra will go to animal rescue or pet adoptions.  The amount is an estimate considering all the info my vet provided.

PLEASE HELP ME SAVE BUTTERSCOTCH AND HER BABIES!!!!  It's a beautiful gift and great karma!!  Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!
