Safe Saturday Girl Scout Gold Award

Donation protected
For my Girl Scout Gold Award project, I am working with one of the POOREST areas in the country. I am working with the Cheyenne River Valley Reservation in South Dakota and Hawkwing to help the students attending the Eagle Butte School.

The school only has four days of school a week, so they have three days off instead of two. The students as a result are more likely to get into gangs, drugs, alcohol, and other bad things. The School has started a Safe Saturday program to combat that.

Safe Saturday is a day where the students are brought to the school on Saturday to do nonacademic activities. These include arts and crafts and organized sports, since those have been taken out of the budget at the school, so they don’t get exposed to those activities at all. The problem is, the school doesn’t have enough money to buy art supplies and sports equipment. That’s where you come in.

I am raising money to buy art supplies (enough for about 1,000 students, grades K-12), sports equipment, full-sized basketball hoops, and two full-sized soocer goals.

Thank you so much for your generous donation. With your donation, we can help expose at-risk Native American children to the arts and organized sports.
