This fairytale love story all began when Shalin met Frances in Spanish Class at Troy High School in 2007!
Through out the awkward years of High School they always remained close and had an unbreakable bond.
The next big chapter of their lives came when they both attended USC,
turned the big 2-1, and traveled the World together.
However, the story really begins in 2014 when Shalin was diagnosed with stage IV synovial sarcoma. His first hospital stay lasted over a month and entailed countless painful challenges, struggles and difficult days, Simply put, this was an insane and incredibly scary period for the both of them. Despite the challenging circumstances cancer confronted them with, they stayed positive, stuck it through, and thrived in the face of it!
Shalin was a champ throughout his many, many rounds of chemotherapy and Frances could not have been more proud to be by his side throughout it all. Shalin even painted Frances a poppy flower for her 23rd birthday because like an opiate, she "takes his pain away".
Since Shalin's diagnosis they haven't let cancer affect their relationship. In a way, the cancer can be considered a blessing because the two High School Sweethearts are more in love than ever before!
In February they took their love to the next level and became engaged to get MARRIED!
For those of you who've never gotten the pleasure of meeting these two, they are the most genuine people you will ever met. Shalin is an extremely strong and positive person, despite everything he has gone through. Right after graduating from USC's prestigious Business program and before his diagnosis, Shalin volunteered for the peace corps in Peru. This act of selflessness speaks volumes for how big his heart is. His soulmate, Frances, has a huge heart as well and is an inspiring woman. She has stuck by her mans side through thick and thin for over 5 years. You will honestly never met a woman as strong and empowering as she is!
Shalin and Frances possess one of the purest forms of love you will ever see. When they are around each other there is an aura of positive energy that can be felt by everyone in the room. These two are always having fun and laughing, the way love is meant to be. There is no love that is as perfect and heartfelt as theirs.
