Rescue Ponies and Pony Club Kids

High in the coffee country of western Panama and in the shadow of the mighty Volcan Baru lives a very special group of ponies and a very special little equestrian centre.
These ponies were rescued, one by one, from homes that were less than ideal. These patient ponies were overworked, underfed, and in poor health. With little or no veterinary care it’s quite possible that the lives of these ponies would have been short and miserable ones.
But it gets better.
Jessica, a dedicated and driven equestrian, has taken it upon herself to seek out and rescue these ponies and bring them to their forever home, Boquete Equestrian Centre. Here the ponies receive veterinary care, farrier treatment for their often badly overgrown and neglected hooves, healthy food, and lots of love to speed up their rehabilitation.
But what’s a pony without a child who adores him?
Jessica has started a pony club for the local children, which is the perfect way for the kids and the ponies to connect and form deep and respectful bonds. The kids (ranging in age from toddlers to teens) learn every aspect of pony care from grooming and feeding to health and preventative care.
And of course there’s riding. And lots of fun.
Unfortunately, maintaining a stable full of ponies is no easy or inexpensive task. And many of the children in the Boquete area cannot afford to pay the already reduced club dues and fees.
This is where you come in.
Whether you’re an avid equestrian or you just love the idea of ponies and kids learning and growing together, you can help. Your donation can help feed these rescue ponies, cover the cost of pony club for a young student who might not be able to participate otherwise, and be applied to the purchase of much needed bridles and saddles for the ponies and riding clothing, boots, and helmets for the kids.
