Dawn's Cervical Cancer Battle

I'm starting this GoFundMe page for one of my bestt friends and neighbor Dawn, and her 8 yr old daughter Sarah. I've been watching Sarah since she was 2 yrs old, and she is a wonderful, joyful little girl. Dawn and I have a friendship that has developed into almost sisters. Sarah and Dawn have become part of our family, and we would do anything for them. Recently, Dawn has been struggling through very tough times. I wanted to find a way to help them even more. Here's thier story...
Dawn is a single Mom working to support Sarah and keep a roof over thier heads. Dawn is a hairstylist, so her income is based on customers plus tips and she often has to work extra hours to ensure she has money for the mortgage and food. She has no support from Sarahs father, nor has she recieved any in over 3 years. In fact, she is in the middle of divorce/custody/child support hearings, but will see little if any child support, as he is recently out of jail and has no income. Despite her struggles, Dawn is one of the most loving, caring, hardworking people I know. She puts everyone elses needs ahead of her own, and lives each day with faith and love in her heart.
On top of her normal struggles Dawn recently began having stomach issues, as well as female issues. She thought it was just stress, but went to see the Dr. After many tests, and biopsys she was given the news that she has Stage 3 Cervical Cancer. This is devastating new. It will require weeks of radiation and chemo therapy, during which she will be sick, weak and unable to work, let alone care adequetly for Sarah. There will be no summer vacation for them, as she fight to get rid of this disease.
Now, faced with treatment and recovery Dawn is even more stressed. And then Dawn recieved a phone call from her insurance company stating that she has reached her maximum coverage for the year, and they will be unable to cover her procedures or the recent biopsys. The bills for the biopsy will be $3700 for Dr. and $8600 for the hospital. In addition she will have bills for MRI, PET scan, CT Scan and then all the radiation and chemotherapy treatments. This is devestating news,
and she is terrified of what will happen to Sarah if anything happens to her.
She has applied for Medical assistance, but as of June 17, she has not recieved an answer. She will go on diability, but it will not cover her regular bills, and without being able to work, she loses the tips that she depends on as well.
So, I'm hoping that you will find it in your heart to help. Every little bit helps to keep Dawn and Sarah healthy and together! With a little faith, hope and love we will get her through this!
