Summit for Black + Brown Girls

Tax deductible
“Know yourself. Know your worth”.
- Drake

If you could go back in time, to your teenage years…...

+ What would you want for yourself?
+ What do you think you need now that wasn’t provided then?
+ What would you have requested more of that would allow you to be your better self now?
+ What would you want to tell her/him?
+ What do you wish someone would have told you?
+ How would you have loved yourself differently?

Well you have an opportunity to share this insight with a young girl!

Inspiration comes from every generation! Support us with providing young emerging leaders with an opportunity to be free - fully self expressed!

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Join the movement to support our girls with knowing themselves more deeply than we knew ourselves back then.

Don’t allow another day or year go by that a young girl is searching for an answer or support when you have something that could change the game for her.

4 ways YOU can contribute and make a difference:
+ Donate (we can't do this without the funds)
+ Write a Letter and we will share it with our attendees!
+ Match how much we raise by February 14, 2016 !
+ Share GoFundMe link via social media @s2syouthsummit #Knowthyself #s2s2016

Your donation matters and your voice matters.

OUR STORY

For the past eight years the Gye Nyame Empowerment Project (GNEP), a Brooklyn-based non-profit, has hosted our annual two-day empowerment summit for Pan-African girls and women from the NYC area and we have served over 1,000 people with loving themselves, demanding the best, stepping into their power and embracing their full potential.

We have gathered some of today's most influential and respected thought leaders and young professionals to facilitate workshops, perform and speak. These allies and advocates include Susan L. Taylor (Founder of National CARES Mentoring Movement), Ava Duvernay (Filmmaker and Founder of AFFRM), Misty Copeland (American Ballet Theater Soloist), Laurie Cumbo (NYC Council Member), Letitia James (NYC Public Advocate), Queen Afua (Author and Wellness Expert), Michaela angela Davis (Image Activist), Queen Godis (Poet + Emcee), Chrisette Michele (Recording Artist), Toni Blackman (Rhyme Like a Girl), and Beverly Bond (Founder of Black Girls Rock!).

2013 Keynote Speaker, Misty Copeland (first African American Female Principal Dancer with the American Ballet Theatre) with student who introduced her.

This year's theme is "Know Thyself" and participants will delve deeper into understanding who they are, up against the conflicting images they come across in popular culture, their communities, and in their own homes.
