Help Gary Aftercare and Basic Needs

Part 2:

As most of you know, Gary was re-admitted to the hospital with several complications. Rest assured that they are being addressed in order of severity. Gary told me that he was told by his doctor, that this will be a long haul.

So, thank you all once again and keep this event alive by passing it on to any you may have missed the first time around. And keep sending those good vibrations and prayers, too.

We are eternally grateful.

I'm asking for help. My brother is recovering from Open Heart Surgery on March 16th (our Mom's 90th birthday!). He has no insurance - he has the choice of pay bills and eat or pay the premiums even with the Marketplace. He can't return to work without a doctor signing off, so there has been no money coming in since this all began.

Gary is a remarkable man.  About 19 years ago, he uprooted his good life in California to be here in Florida while my dad was dying from cancer. He told our father that he would stay here to keep an eye on mom for as long as necessary. Unfortunately, Florida is a tough State to start over in, so he's been struggling ever since. For those of you that know him, you know he would give the shirt off his back if he could. Now, he needs our help. With no income and his basic expenses still there - housing, electric, food and more, we are at a loss.

Recovery is hampered due to severe Edema from his hips to his toes (he's as bloated as he appears in the photo taken right after surgery). So much so, that he needs help getting out of bed, up from a chair, in & out of the car, etc.. Medicaid is out, so it's County Health. That is in process but usually takes 45 days or more from application date.

Meanwhile, no specialists will see him without paying cash. The bills have started to arrive and they are astronomical! I can't even get him to the Lymph clinic for treatments 3 times a week to force the fluids from his legs without paying up front.

As this is a terrifying experience for anyone, I'm hoping that his friends, and any of the friends he has yet to make, will catch the spirit of giving. Please make a donation of any size to help him get through what is going to be a very difficult time. The money will help Gary keep some enormous medical bills from snowballing into another level of stress that can only hinder his recovery. This situation and his existing medical concerns coupled with the huge financial burden can be overwhelming to say the least.

I wish to thank you all very much for your generosity and compassion in this trying time.
