Aaron's Car Accident Fund

On March 23, 2015 I was in a very severe automobile accident that occurred after I was hit on the passenger side by a large SUV, traveling at a high speed. The impact completely crushed the left side of my car and bent down the top of the door frame down into my car, which ended up slamming into my ribs. I was in the worst pain of my life and had blood all over my face and in my mouth.  I was rushed to the hospital and was scared for my life. After a Cat-scan and an X-Ray, it was determined that I broke 5 ribs, lacerated my liver and bruised my lung. I ended up in the ICU for two days to ensure that I wasn't bleeding internally from my liver. After determining that my liver was not bleeding out, I was released from the hospital on the third day.

Although I was sent home, I was still in considerable pain.  I would spend the next 6-8 weeks recovering at home with no cast (casts around the ribs inhibit breathing) and only pain medication to help me get by. Unable to sleep lying down, and unable to use my "core" muscles, right arm and back muscles has been very tough to deal with.  The pain for the first couple of weeks had been unbearable and I would get out of breath after doing very simple things.  Everyday has been tough, but slowly I have been getting better.

Although I'm healing and will be back to "normal" in a month or less, I am now faced with the financial responsibilities from the accident.  I lost my car since it was totaled beyond repair.  Because the insurance company felt that the accident was my fault they have ruled in favor of the person who hit me, who managed to walk away from the accident with no injury and minor vehicle damage.  I also lost my job a few months ago, and therefore lost my Health Insurance, so when the accident occurred I had no Health Insurance to help with medical expenses.  I still have small shards of glass in my face and neck, one of which is right below my eye and may require cosmetic surgery to remove them.  On top of that I am no longer eligible to collect unemployment benefits since I am unable to work due to injury.  Basically I cannot earn any unemployment, nor can I work for about 2 months.

I live with my girlfriend, Alison, and her daughter, Rylen, and being in this situation has put a strain on our finances.  In the very near future, I'll need to start paying the hospital back for my time there, but without a job or unemployment benefits, it will be tougher to do so without some help.  I never like to ask for financial help, but we are faced  with an overwhelming amount of debt, and we need some help.

I am asking for $10,000 as a stretch goal, but if I am somehow able to reach this goal, it will make a significant impact on my ability to pay the hospital for my stay there.  I would also like to use a little bit of the money, to use as a small down payment on a vehicle, if possible, and to help pay for our basic living expenses.   Even if I don't make it to the goal every little bit counts and will be extremely appreciated.

Thank you in advance to everyone that is able to help me, Alison and Rylen in this trying time.  It will mean more to us than you could know.
