Tom Ryndak '70 Challenger Bday Fund

Donation protected
My best friend, Tom Ryndak, turns 50 this year.  Anyone who knows Tom recognizes that he is one of the most selfless and giving individuals around.

Probably everyone who reads this post has called Tom in a bind, typically involving a car, and had Tom come to the rescue.  Maybe your car wouldn't start, you needed a brake job THIS WEEKEND, a quick oil change, some work to get your car to pass inspection (wink, wink) - maybe all of the above.  Everytime I come into town, he's working on somebody's car or helping them with a home improvement or repair job.

The ironic point is that he doesn't have time to work on HIS car or finish his 15-year (and counting) home improvement project!

Look at the picture I posted of Tom's 1970 Challenger R/T.  When Tom and I were much younger, I actually remember riding in that car.  I think the last ride I had in that car was almost 25 years ago.  The car has been sandblasted and he's bought parts for it, but it sits in his garage with car parts and other odds and ends piled on it.  Wouldn't it be nice if WE could work on Tom's car???

That's the focus of this fundraiser - it's time for us to give back to Tom!  The goal is to raise as much money as possible to get a restoration shop in the area to do some body work on the car and give the old man (50!) a head start on actually completing this project.

I've contacted some high-end restoration shops and the quotes are pretty crazy for a complete job.  Perhaps we give the money to Tom to have him choose what work gets done by a third party and what he wants to work on.  Either way, I want to see Tom behind the wheel of this car in the near future!

Every dime that people donate will go to Tom.  I'll cover the processing fees.  If it turns out that we don't raise enough or (whatever), I'll give every person back their contribution in full!

So how much should you donate?  Any donation will get us closer to our goal, so no donation is too small.  If you think about what your car repair would have cost you in a repair shop, or if they had weekend rates, maybe it will inspire you to be as generous as you can be.  From my perspective, I can't donate enough to cover everything Tom has done for me and my family.

So lets get the word out on this fundraiser!  Share it on Facebook or email or word of mouth - JUST DON'T LET TOM KNOW!  It would be great if we could reach every person that Tom has helped, because if all those people only donated $5 each, we'd have enough funds to have one of those restoration shops finish the whole car!

PS:  Feel free to contribute anonymously (suggested)- I'll make sure your name is included on the card I will give to Tom.   I can see the names of the anonymous contributors.  If you contribute with your name and change your mind and wish to be anonymous, please contact me and I can switch your contribution to "anonymous".  Remember: no gift is too small - it's the thought that counts.
