Adoption Support for Josh & Valley

My wife and I started out like any other newly-wed couple. Marriage was the first step and following that with starting a family seemed like the normal thing to do. Valley suspected that having children might be difficult due to previous health concerns, but neither of us were entirely ready for what was lying ahead.

After being married in 2009, Valley and I moved to Idaho at the end of the year. While we were trying to get pregnant, we started to feel like it was time to see a doctor. We began looking into fertility treatments and found out my wife had been diagnosed with PCOS. What followed were years of terrible depression, false hopes, and dreams being shattered again each month. The treatments we tried were hard on Valley and each month would come back with a negative result that would add to her depression and our anxiety about the future of the family.

After a couple years in Idaho, I was met with an opportunity to work at a hospital in Rangely, CO. After we moved, we kept seeing new doctors trying to see if there was any hope of getting pregnant, but nothing was even remotely successful.  It was during this time that God began working in our hearts and lives. The thought of adoption was presented to us from a couple of family members. We were hesitant to really consider it because it was never in any of our origninal plans, and even felt like we were almost giving up on any children "of our own." But as Valley was reading her Bible in the book of James, she came accross the verse that says, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction..." As she read that verse, God worked in her heart and she realized that there was no better way to help orphans than to adopt!

Once she approached me with that passage, I knew instantly that the right thing to do was to start pursuing adoption as well. We began looking into agencies to see if we could find a child through foster care. While the process was long, and we even had to swap to a new agency due to extraneous circumstances, we finally recieved our foster care licenses and are in the process of trying to find a child, or even serveral to bring into our home. While it would seem like we are pretty much there, the final hurdle we've come to is oddly enough, where we live.

Because Rangely is such a small town and so far from any of the major cities in Colorado, there isn't many opportunities to foster-to-adopt here. We weren't sure where we could get the funds for doing a straight-forward adoption, but some wonderful ladies found out about what we were trying to do, and began helping us raise funds. The last thing we were told to do was start a page here, at go fund me, so that people could help us towards adoption.

At this point, we're still looking to adopt a child out of foster care if that option becomes available to us. We're praying that God will bring the right child/children to us so that we can give them a loving home. While the foster system takes care of the fees associated with adoption in that case, it would still leave us with having to fully outfit and furnish our new children from scratch, on very short notice. On the other hand, if there isn't any placements that can fit for us being in Rangely, then we want to start pursuing a paid for adoption as soon as we can. If you feel like the Lord is leading you in any way to help us, we will be eternally grateful and use every penny to help bring needy children into a forever home!
