Russia Orphan Ministry

Donation protected
Less than two months from now, Chris and I will be traveling with a group from our church to Russia in order to reach out to the orphans with God's love. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please read our support letter below and consider sponsoring us as we take this step in following Gods lead to help His children. This will be the start of many mission adventures as we begin our lives together this year and we ask that you help us to obtain the financial goal needed to make this possible!!

Dear Family and Friends,
A happy new year to you and may this year be an amazing blessing! We look forward to 2012 with great anticipation of how God is going to work this year and all the amazing things He is going to do. As you may know, Mandy Lee and I are engaged to be married June 1st, making this year especially important to us. There were many reasons that led us to believe God was guiding us to this point in our lives, not least of which was our calling to missions. Last summer I had been seriously contemplating proposing to Mandy but was waiting until I had definite confirmation from God that this was the right choice and the right timing in our lives. During this time, I had the chance to go on my fifth trip to a Russian orphanage while Mandy went overseas for the first time to Cambodia in order to teach impoverished children. While she was there she visited a Cambodian orphanage and though her reason to be overseas was mission-minded teaching opportunities to schoolchildren elsewhere, she knew her heart was drawn toward ministering to the orphans above all. In hearing her tell her story of how God convicted her for the orphan and what He led her to do, I knew that she too had received the calling from God to serve the orphans. I was blown away by how God lead each of us to the same calling in two very different mission fields and I knew that God was leading us in the same direction for a reason. We immediately began planning to go to Russia in the spring, and I proposed in October. As you may imagine, the timing of this trip will be very difficult because it will be in March and the wedding in June. However, we remain convinced that it is God's calling for us to serve the orphans together, and we don"˜t want to miss this opportunity. Because of the timing of the wedding, we will not be able to participate in this ministry during the summer, and thus feel that it is highly important for us to take the opportunity that God has given us to do His will in serving the orphans on this upcoming spring trip.
If we do not go now, we will not be able to return to Russia until Spring 2013, and I will not be able see these children that I have grown close to for over a year. Mandy and I do not want to wait that long to return and I believe waiting so long could damage the relationships I have built there. The majority of these orphans are "˜social orphans', meaning that their parents are still alive but for one reason or another have abandoned them. As such, many of the children harbor abandonment issues and issues of self-worth. I feel strongly that consistently showing our love over a period time is one of our most powerful methods in this ministry, making repeated trips invaluable. That being said, we cannot do this alone and we would like to prayerfully consider partnering with us in some of the following ways:
First and foremost, we ask that you pray over this upcoming trip. Pray that God provides for the people He has called to go there, that hearts are prepared to receive the message when our group arrives, that the children see that we legitimately care about them. We ask for your continual prayer, knowing that God provides for the needs of His children and that He gives to those who seek Him.
Secondly, we invite you to partner with us in meeting the tangible needs of the orphans, most importantly their need for love. We are unable to carry a lot with us overseas, but any type of card, letter or gift that you would like to send to one of these children would be carried into their little hands, and ultimately their hearts with love.
Last but not least, we encourage you to prayerfully consider financially partnering with us on this journey. We understand that for most of us money is tight, and that it may be difficult to give at this time. However, we ask that you consider giving as this is an opportunity for us to reach others for God's Kingdom and show children who have not known love the ultimate love of Christ. There is no donation too small, and each and every one given will be very appreciated. We request that you ask God what part he would have you play in this mission, knowing that even if everyone who read this letter were simply able to donate $20 the goal would be met.
We plan to be in Russia over spring break, around March 8th-17th. Please remember that Mandy and I cannot do this without your support. This makes you an invaluable member of our mission team.
Thank You and God Bless,
Chris Fisher and Mandy Lee
