An 8 year old boy with Spinal Muscular Atrophy who loves to watch sports says to his mother,
"I never thought I would be able to PLAY a sport".
This is said after Brendan's parents found Power Wheel Chair Soccer. They started competing in this program in the Fall of 2014. Brendan excelled and was so happy to be competing. Finally, a sport that he can "PLAY".
While traveling to the competitions and talking with other children and adults who participate in this sport, they discovered that a Strike Force chair would help Brendan play to his maximum potential. This chair turns with precision and has the speed needed to play soccer at this level. Brendan's parents started to investigate this chair and how to get one. They found that the cost of this chair would be $10,000.00.
As a parent of an athlete, I always wanted my child to have the best equipment available to participate in their sports. His parents do too and did apply for and received a grant toward the cost of this chair, but it only covers 20%. So I have started this GoFundMe account to ask you for a donation to help this family receive this chair so that Brendan can PLAY!!!!
Brendan is currently recovering from spinal surgery and many family and friends have asked how they can support the family. Brendan's parents have asked that you consider a donation toward this chair rather than the traditional offers of support such as meals, etc.
