Save our speedskating club: Skate-a-Thon

Donation protected

Hi everyone... just a little update, Aug. 23,  to the letter below:  We had our skate a thon fundraiser in July. .. it was a huge success!  We raised nearly $5,000. for ice costs!  Thank you so very much to all of our generous donors as well as all the volunteers.  I was able to skate the most laps, 205... and that is about 15 miles of skating!  Pretty tiring!  I was glad though, to show my support for this great speedskating club where I got my start.

We are still happy to accept donations for keeping our club alive.  Unlike other countries, this Olympic sport is not Nationally funded and relies heavily on generous supporters in the private sector from people and companies that love the Olympics and love to see the most exiting sport on ice, Short Track Speedskating!

Hello everyone, this is Kendal!  To support the club that provides my speedskating training, I'm taking part in DeMorra Speedskating's Annual Skate-A-Thon on July 28, 2012 from 5:30-6:30pm. For that hour, I will race around the track, racking up as many laps as I can, to raise money for my fantastic club.

Each year our ice costs total approximately $60,000. Without support from individuals like you, I would not be able to train for the Short Track Speedskating Olympic trials coming up in September 2013 as it would simply be too expensive to do so. 100% of the money raised in our Skate-A-Thon will go directly to pay for our ice costs. It does not go to me personally, but it will save the club and allow me to continue my training while living at home with my family.

I really need your help to raise the $12,000. that the not for profit club urgently needs to be able to continue in operation. I expect to do 200 laps in my hour, and would hugely appreciate your support. I'm asking you for a donation of $50 for my symbolic hard work. If you can't do $50, please support me with $25, or whatever you can. $5. would be great too! Every little bit will help to enable many youths to pursue their dreams in this amazing Olympic sport.

Thanks again, I really appreciate that you would consider helping this wholesome and worthwhile speedskating club. It does a lot of good for a lot of people.  DeMorra Speedskating www.demorraspeedskating.org has produced 13 USA Olympians so far,....with your help, maybe that number will go up one more!

Thank you so very much!
