The Capital Region Axemen are a community-based lacrosse team in Ottawa. Our players come from Ottawa and the surrounding areas to volunteer their time and skills to make the Axemen a highly competitive team.
The Axemen have participated in the Senior B Lacrosse League in Quebec for the last 6 years. We have represented the league twice at the Canadian National Championship President's Cup, finishing in second place in 2015.
After another great season, we are a strong contender again for the President's Cup, hosted in Nanaimo, BC from August 27 to September 2.
For those unaware the President's Cup is a gruelling seven day tournament which pits the best teams from across the country against each other in a round robin and elimination tournament to determine the Canadian National Champion for Senior B lacrosse. Senior B plays host to many pro lacrosse players who return home for the summer. The Axemen are a community based team with all players coming from Ottawa and the surrounding areas. We do not get paid to play like some teams and rely on our local community to participate each year.
The cost to travel and participate in the President's Cup is $2,000 per player. This includes flight, checked bags (need our gear!), accommodations and local transportation. The Axemen’s goal is to fly the whole team of 25 players to Nanaimo next month. This is where we need your help.
