Why do bad things happen to good people? A question we are asking ourselves more frequently, unfortunately.
My grandmother gene lost her beautiful home yesterday to a fire. Fire fighters were able to save our two kitty's and get the fire out! unfortunately est damages are $100,000 and home is not habitable.
Gene was nominated for neighborhood hero in Duluth central hillside known for her generosity and compassion.
She focused her life on being involved in the community helping youth in need, volunteered for the city, supporting local artists and new bar/restaurants in the area.
After retiring from teaching art to children at neighborhood youth services she has stayed connected to the lives she has mentored and come in contact with.
Growing up I always heard other children refer to her as grandma and
as an adult I now understand how much she impacted the lives she came into contact with.
She has a kind kind heart, bigger than anyone I have ever known,
Opening her home to people in need and others displaced by tragedy, sharing her last quarters out if her purse, food out of her fridge -  and

She always told me that we should be thankful, we have more than some people have. I've held onto that.
