Tempe Homeless Outreach Team

Donation protected
We are raising money to do homeless street outreach in Tempe, AZ. There is currently no resource centers or shelter in the city and with a new law that bans sitting on sidewalks in the downtown area, it is going to be extremely hard to survive the 115 degree Arizona summer.  We want to provide food, water, clothing, and hygiene on a regular basis to the homeless population. The city desperately needs a place for these people to shower, get water, eat obtain information on resources that are available. We are starting with the street outreach, but we really want to take action and find a way to get this resource center and eventually a shelter for our homeless citizens. We're starting with crowd funding, and hope that we will be successful enough to turn it into a non profit and grants and HELP for these people who need it most.

Recently an ordinance has been passed in Tempe that makes it illegal to sit on the public sidewalk. Tempe has no shelters, no homeless resource centers, and very few services available to help the homeless get off the streets as it is, and fining and arresting them for sitting on the sidewalk only perpetuates the problem of homelessness.

We are held a protest on Friday, April 29th against the ordinance and to raise awareness for the homeless in Tempe. At the protest, we also collected and distributed food, clothing, hygiene products, water, and bus passes. Our ultimate goal as a movement is to get a resource center around downtown Tempe as there is truly no place for them to go at the moment. The ordinance goes into effect May 14th and we need a solution now.

After the protest we will continue taking action and doing outreach to the homeless. We need as much help as we can get; funds as well as physical donations of clothes, water, and hygiene products are much appreciated! Every bit helps. Thank you all who are helping out!
