Ride for the Madden Family

Hello!

The Madden Family:  Paul, Jackie, son Myles and daughter Brianna are struggling through some extreme medical issues.  Paul is presently under-going chemotherapy treatment, following colon cancer surgery, which was preceded 18 months ago by quintuple heart by-pass surgery.  Paul is steadily recovering, however, as you can imagine, chemo treatment has been exceptionally debilitating and Paul has been told he must return to his job prior to his Chemo treatments or loses his job.  Paul, at the present moment, has only hours each day where he is not constantly nauseated and bed ridden.  So, as a result, Paul will be released from his job come July 1.  In addition to Paul's medical issues, Jackie suffers from spasmodic torticollis, a painful nerve issue in her neck that she must receive a $2,500.00 injection every three months in order to manage the pain.

This campaign has been started with the goal of offsetting at least some of the Madden Family's ever-increasing medical bills, especially now that Paul's medical coverage will cease on July 1.

Paul and Jackie have been married for 21 years.  Myles just graduated with Honors from Grandville HS and was the starting goalie for both the 2014 State Semi-Final and 2015 State Finalist Grandville Bulldog Hockey Team. Brianna will be a sophomore at Grandville this coming year; she also is an academic high achiever and is involved in Grandville's music and marching band program.

The Madden Family are hard workers who are dedicated members within the Grandville community. Their discretionary time is spent making our community better, not focusing on their illnesses, or wishing away the challenges in their lives.

I've started this Go Fund Me account, which will accept pledges per mile, or in a lump sum, on behalf of the Madden Family.  I plan to cycle from Grand Rapids to Mackinac City, departing from GR Riverside Park at 7am on July 1 traveling north to Mackinac City via the rails to trails system and various country roads.  My goal is arrive in Mackinac City on July 3 or early on July 4. The distance is approximately 270 miles by the route I have chosen.  This extensive cycling tour is new to me and presents a significant challenge, however I felt it would help raise awareness of the Madden Family’s Medical challenges and expenses.    They have done so much for our hockey and Grandville community that I feel they deserve a little care themselves.  I hope you agree.

I ask you to please consider even a modest donation to help one of our loved hockey families going through this most challenging time.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers with the Madden Family!

Sincerely;
