Rhianna Needs Your Help

Donation protected
My daughter, Rhianna, has Cystic Fibrosis. Her lung function fluctuates between 37-45% capacity. This means she breathes at 37% of what someone her height and weight without CF would breathe. Could you imagine breathing on less than 40% of the air that you do now?

Her doctors have advised her to stop working and she in the process of being listed for a Double Lung Transplant.

Rhianna has worked since she was 14 and full time since she finished high school. She works hard.

In 2016 during a holiday to Hawaii Rhianna became unwell with a number of virus’. We flew her home early and she went straight into hospital where she spent the next 2-3 months as an ‘in patient’. She ended up on oxygen and her lung function dropped to 23% and this is when they first sent her over the Prince Charles Hospital for her first transplant review.

Throughout 2017 Rhianna’s lung function at its best has been 55% earlier in the year and right now she is sitting at 37% capacity.

With another review at the PC Hospital the doctor decided it was time to have her ‘work up’ done to get her listed for a new set of lungs as her lung function has dropped 10% in just 1 month. This is terrifying and exciting at the same time.

With a constant decline in Rhianna’s ability to simply take care of herself her doctors have told her she needs to stop working but Centrelink have denied her a disability pension.

When she gets home from work I am often needing to shower her, cook for her, get her medications ready etc because she is exhausted. When she doesn’t work, she sleeps.

Rhianna needs your help as the Australian Government have left her behind.

Once Rhianna receives her transplant we need to relocate to Brisbane for 3-6 months for her after care. This won’t come cheap.

Her monthly expenses right now consist of;
Medications - $100-$150
Phone - $60
Internet - $20
Private Health Insurance - $100
Food - $200-$300
Car expenses - $50
= $680 over 6 months = $4,080

This is her bare minimum expenses. This doesn’t include clothes, personal hygiene, emergencies etc.

Rhianna has a trip planned with her dad and step mum to America in April and has saved so hard to be able to do this. We just hope she is well enough to go and that this doesn’t impact on any assistance she needs from our government. She has earned a break and has saved very hard to get herself there.

If you find it in your heart to donate please dontate to help my daughter get through the next few months, possibly even years (it can take this long to get a transplant), without financial burden.

If the Australian Government decide my daughter is worth their help then all donations to this GoFundMe will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland
