On Wednesday June 13th, Angelique fell from her trapeze fracturing and dislocating her spine. She underwent a 9 hour surgery on June 14th. The surgeons successfully fused T12-L4 with various bits of titanium hardware. In the
time since the surgery, her attending doctors and nurses have been
amazed at her spirit and optimistic attitude. She is a great patient! They are hopeful and confident for a successful road to recovery.
For those of you who want to help and are interested in Angie's story, here it is in a nutshell:
Since
moving to Minneapolis in 2008, Angelique has worked diligently to build a
successful life doing all of the things she loves: professional massage therapy, yoga instruction, aerial arts and performing. She has a strong client base and supportive community in which to share and grow her talents.
Up until the accident, she was supporting herself with her various careers. Since
these professions were each part-time, she does not have insurance
through an employer (no workman's comp or disability insurance). Luckily,
she has been able to take advantage of Minnesota Care, a State sponsored
insurance program. This policy will pay for a good
portion of her hospital bills but it will not cover all of it, nor will
it re-coop any lost income during her rehabilitation.
Angie
has received a tremendous out-pour of love and support, and she is deeply
touched by everyone who has taken the time to call and send messages,
gifts and flowers.
This web page was established to ease some of the financial burden so that Angelique can focus all her energy on a full recovery. This site will allow those of you who wish to help her further, to donate funds that will aid her transition back to independence!
Thank you so very much for your continuing love and prayers.
