Halfway Home: Help the LA Homeless
The students of Loyola Marymount University, Health and Well-being in Homeless Communities, would like to raise consciousness about the realities of homelessness that we have been learning about in our class this semester.
We are hoping to raise funds to aid a local Non-profit organization (The Skid Row Housing Trust) that provides permanent supportive housing for the homeless residents of Skid Row. The funds we raise will go towards the creation of "Welcome Home Kits" for the residents so that they will have the necessary resources required for making their transition into permanent housing as comfortable as possible. This is a great opportunity to reach out to our silently suffering community members, while making a contious effort in helping those who aren't as fortunate as many others.
To give you an idea of what goes into these kits, think of the things you use daily. This could be anything from the toothbrush you brush your teeth with, or the towel you dry your face on. Every little thing you can think of, that one might take for granted on a daily basis, is precious to the people who survive with what little they manage to aquire while on the streets.
We are grateful for any sum, small or large. Each donation goes a long way.
Thank you for your generosity. We look forward in making a difference in the lives of the people living in Skid Row.
