True Friends is a nonprofit, privately-funded agency that enriches the lives of nearly 4,000 people with developmental or physical disabilities and special needs annually. Our respite team has generously offered to take on the Arctic Plunge to raise money for camp and respite programming. Respite is a year round weekend program that allows a much needed break for caregivers providing 24/7 care. During Respite, we provide a fun and safe environment for our campers. We shape our programs to help fit our campers’ needs and interest. We do everything from hands on projects and games, to fulfilling sensory, social and emotional needs. We make time to relax by a pool, fire or in the shade of a tree, we even take day trips into local communities to explore and enjoy all that is around us. True Friends Respite is unique in that we try to go above and beyond just basic care and try to create a fun and nurturing environment.
In order to do all the wonderful things listed above we rely heavily on our program and weekend staff. They, along with our campers, are the heart of True Friends; they make the magic happen for our campers each camp session with their positive attitudes and creative imaginations.
We have a little incentive for our staff if they raise the money.
There is an Arctic Plunge in our area Jan 31st and I have developed a tiered jumping system based on how much money is raised.
It is:
$500 raised- Program Manager(Me) will Jump
$750 raised- Respite Health Care Manager will Jump
$1000 raised- Respite Director will Jump
$1500 raised- Respite Sr. Director will Jump
$2500 raised- COO will Participate
$5000 raised- CEO will Participate
* our CEO and COO will not be in the area at the time of the jump, however they will jump into a body of water if their amounts are raised.
Also our COO has generously offered to donate $500 after we reach $1000!
