I'm Katie Neligan, an equine-assisted coach and Lindsey is a thoroughbred mare, healer and teacher. You can hear our story by watching the video above.
Together we are asking for your help! On 11/29/15 I rescued Lindsey because the next day she would have been euthanized. I brought her to Saffyre Sanctuary where she can receive the nutrition, love and support she needs for her second chance.
It's been said it takes a village to raise a child and it will take a community to save this horse. Lindsey is now part of a rescue herd of horses that have all been brought-back to thriving after being at death's door. She will be the Sanctuary's next "sucess story" with your help!
You get to play a critical role in this rescue and with your financial assistance Lindsey will receive the following:
- A safe and comfortable stall and bed
- The best possible diet so she can have her digestive issues and laminitis healed for good
- Medical care from a team of equine professionals
- Care-giving from a volunteer community who will help clean her stall, exercise, feed ,and love her
Care Costs:
$200/month for her home/bed
$180/month for Timothy hay
$120/month for healing supplements/nutrition
$100/month for shavings/bedding
Medical Costs:
$180 for barefoot trimming of her hooves/year
$260 for vet check-ups and any necessary medical work/year (i.e. this could be a lot higher but it's still TBD right now)
$175 for dentist/year
I've already spent $392 on Lindsey just for her immediate rescue needs. Unfortunately, I am not in a place financially where I can cover all of her needs and neither is the Sanctuary. Luckily, I am borrowing many of the supplies she'll need such as fly mask/blanket/etc. so we'll save money there.
