This is my vision for the ALTERNATIVE NYE Bash.
This is about wanting to go above and BEYOND the internet, to bring creativity, encouragement, and fun to a large part of the community that gets left out -- those in recovery from alcoholism or addiction.We survived another year, guys.
We survived another year, guys. Some of us didn't make it. This is a part of the community that cannot be turned away from. There are lives at stake. Sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, friends and coworkers -- these are the people dying from the addiction disease. I'm hoping that with this event, we can encourage the change that people have made to be committed to sobriety.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT? Priority #1: Securing a safe, alcohol-free venue Priority #2: Paying the entertainment (special guests at a discounted rate, yay!!) Priority #3: Providing drinks and snacks to guests Priority #4: Decorations and promotions Any money raised will be spent directly on these items. WHEN IS THE DEADLINE? December 1st. This will let me know if I have enough to move forward with the event. I know this sounds pretty ambitious, but that's why I need your help. I can't do this alone. This means a lot to me because the world isn't "recovery" friendly yet. I've seen myself and others I love struggle with sobriety and things like social anxiety and feel apart from the 'crowd'.
The only thing that'll make this possible, is the support of the community. I want to enlarge that community to include YOU. Being a part of something like this is like being part of a movement, you are changing lives -- mine included. You might even change your own.
