#RavenBooks in Springfield, Ohio!

Hi there! My name is Mellissa Adams and I live in Springfield. A little town in southern Ohio that is in need of your help.

The Story
Once upon a time we had a mall, a fantastic mall with many glorious stores and fun places to browse and shop to our hearts content. Two of those stores were bookstores, bookstores to which my friends and I would continuously hang out in whether to actually buy books, or to be surrounded by our love of literature and conversation. . . and then they both closed.

We mourned their loss! See, not only were they the only bookstores in the mall, they were the only bookstores in town! Springfield no longer has a fully functioning bookstore!

Problems
With the United States at an amazing 14% illiteracy rate (that's 32 million people, folks) and Clark County, Ohio alone has an estimated 16% illiteracy rate (from a 2003 survey from the National Center for Education) which is a little over 17,000 people. And that's just one county.

I say we help change that statistic!

Solution!
Let's put a bookstore back in the mall! Let's put a bookstore in Springfield!

A bookstore in Springfield can be great for several reasons:
#1. Bookstores encourage literacy, creativity, imagination and a thirst for knowledge! We want people to be curious and educated in our town, a bookstore can help!
#2. We won't have to drive clear up to the Beavercreek Barnes & Noble just to get a good book.
#3. Bookstores can have bookclubs! Which is what we want to do! Bookclubs bring people together to discuss thoughts, ideas and opinions. A sense of community is sorely lacking in today's society and we believe that a bookstore is a crucial stepping stone in reviving that community!
#4. Our bookstore is also a great place to get rid of all those books that you've read twenty times over to get new books. That's right, store credit. You bring in books and we will give you a great discount to get new books.
#5. If you donate to our cause over the next month, bring your credit card receipt into the store and receive 25% off your purchase!
#6. If you donate to our cause you get to help decorate the store with tiny "favorite lit quotes" to be tacked on walls, seat cushions, bathroom doors or whatever. Got a favorite line? Use it at the store!

The dreamspace right here! (It used to be the pet shop when we were kids, remember?) Like the Tardis, it's bigger on the inside.

Conclusion - $5,000
Springfield deserves an amazing bookstore that will satisfy the needs and wants of all her citizens; I want to bring a new and used bookstore that will do just that.

5,000 dollars will cover start-up costs, inventory, rent and utilities. We want to raise this amount in just  to open!!

There is opportunity here and we need to make this work. The people of Springfield are hungry for knowledge, literature and a place to dive head first into the written word.  We want comfy couches, tables and chairs, the ability to go somewhere on a cold day and not be bothered for a few hours, to just sit and read that book that you haven't been able to read.

The faster we raise this money, the faster we can open the bookstore. Wouldn't it be great to open in time for Christmas? The more money we raise, the more books we can get in the store! The more money we raise, the more comfy couches can be bought! The tables and chairs! The cash register and signs for what genre you want to read can be bought!

Raven Books needs your help! We need your help!

Help us make the Dream come true!
