Help Grumpy Puppy's Smile

Our baby needs surgery.

When Ollie was just three weeks old, he was bitten. Ollie and his 7 brothers and sisters had just been given a wonderful meal of mush and closed in a room with their mother - or so it was thought. The breeder stepped away and the next thing she heard was puppies yelping. Going back into the room, she discovered that the mother was not there - it was another female in the house. Two of the puppies were cowering in a corner afraid and hurt. Both were immediately taken to the vet for emergency care. One had a broken jaw and it appeared that the other was OK - just scared and shaken. No x-rays were done on Ollie at the time because there was no outward appearance that anything needed to be done.

When we brought Ollie home at 8 weeks, we knew he had a slight underbite and a breathing issue. At first it was cute and unique; but as he has grown, the underbite has grown more prominent and has exposed a more serious issue. His breathing problem - he sounds stuffy - still has not changed. We had hoped that when his adult teeth came in, it would help him. We have now come to the conclusion that when he was bitten, more damage was done than had been expected. It is likely that the bite crushed part of his growth plates which has in turn caused his nose to not grow properly (and give him an underbite) and left him with nasal/breathing issue.

At almost 7 months old, several of Ollie's upper teeth have still not grown in. We have consulted with two separate orthodontic vets and have been told his teeth are impacted and need to be removed. If they are not removed, we risk his teeth becoming abscessed and/or infected. We need to keep our baby healthy and happy, so this needs to be done! We are also hoping that removing his teeth will help his breathing issue. Perhaps a tooth or a root is blocking his nasal cavity? We won't know that for sure until x-rays are done and teeth are removed. But we can hope!

Our estimates have come in between $3k-$4k. This cost includes pre-op blood work, anesthesia, x-rays, tooth extraction, pain relievers and antibiotics. Everything.

No one is exactly sure what happened in that room so long ago, but we know something did and it forever changed our little boy. Please help us get our boy healthy!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can do! <3
