Witness for Peace Cuba Delegation

This summer I hope to travel to Cuba on a delegation with the organization Witness for Peace. Witness for Peace is a grassroots organization that works towards sustainable economies, peace, and justice in Latin America and the Caribbean. They work to change corporate practices and U.S. policy that contribute to exploitation and poverty. This is an historic time to travel to Cuba, before relations with the United States change. I am excited to see Cuba before it has become infiltrated with American culture. On my trip to Cuba I will be learning about a variety of global, local and national issues.  I will have the opportunity to learn first hand about the effects of the United States embargo, and how United States policies effect Cuban citizens. We will have the opportunity to meet with members of various cultural and community organizations, members of the Cuban parliament, scholars, artists, and musicians. When I come back from Cuba I plan to make a digital storytelling project of my experiences. I also hope to do various presentations about my experiences, and what I learned.  If you would like me to come present on my experiences at your church, club, or organization I am more than happy to do so!
