Snoopy, Abandoned Beagle needs help

Donation protected
This page has been set up to help raise money to pay for Snoopy’s ongoing rehabilitation care.

Here is Snoopy’s (named by foster mom) story:

Snoopy is a loveable and sweet 13 lb. Beagle and we are guessing about 2 years old.  Snoopy’s history is unknown since he was abandoned by his family at a dog park at the end of January, 2015.  (This was witnessed by a Good Samaritan who called Animal Control.)  Snoopy could not walk.  Looking at the video, you might think his back legs are paralyzed.   Maybe his family could not afford his medical care.

In walks Maureen O’Donnell (former Torrance City Councilwoman) and offers to foster Snoopy.   Snoopy’s medical history is unknown .   He has been diagnosed
with Intervertebral Disc Disease.   Snoopy’s future seemed dim; would he ever walk again?  We did not know.

Because of Maureen’s personal experience with a ruptured disc, Maureen was willing to take a chance that a combination of acupuncture and therapy may have beneficial results for Snoopy.  And it did!  (See video)

Maureen has been taking Snoopy to Dr. Jin Choi, Lomita Pet Hospital , for weekly acupuncture treatments.

Maureen was also referred to Jean Brusavich of Tranquil Pet for swim therapy.  Snoopy is also receiving light massage from Jean, along with Reiki Energy Healing.

Snoopy is continuing his weekly acupuncture treatments and swimming sessions twice weekly.

We do not know Snoopy’s long-term prognosis …we do know that this injury is permanent and  this little boy is likely to have on-going back issues his entire life and may have periodic need for medical care for this disc injury.  We can only work with him in the moment and hope for continued positive progress.

And here is where you can help:  Maureen is paying for all of Snoopy’s care out of her own pocket and we are asking for some help with this care.

Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.

P.S.   Eventually, we would love to find a forever home for Snoopy.  (Maureen would love to keep him, but she currently has three dogs and two cats.)

When we think Snoopy is ready to move into that forever home, we will be looking for someone who understands the love he needs and will give in return, and, also, just as important, we want to make sure that this loving person understands and can manage Snoopy’s future medical needs.
