Phase II - Improvements

Donation protected
For the past 15 years, I have cooked over 100,000 hot dogs, hamburgers and brats and roasted 1000's of dozens of sweet corn around Minneapolis and St. Paul.   I do this as a community volunteer at neighborhood festivals, for non-profit organizations and for veterans groups.  Most of my events are held on either a parking lot or in a park.  These events feed up to 1000 people in 4 - 5 hour events.  That is why people refer to me as the WienerMeister.

I supply all that is necessary to make sure that these events are a success.  I provide the meat grill and the corn roaster, the tents, the coolers, the food and the paper products.  This is why I need a used school bus.

Right now, I rent or borrow a van to haul everything that is needed to host each event - and that usually means making multiple trips between my warehouse, my supplier's warehouses and the event site.  A used school bus, in particular, one with a handicap wheel chair lift and side door, would make what I do so much easier.

If I am successful in funding this project, I will purchase a used school bus, remove all of the seats in the bus and then construct racks and shelves so that I have everything I need permanently located inside the bus.  I will install a trailer hitch on the back of the bus to pull my meat grill and corn roaster.  State and Federal regulations require me to repaint the entire bus another color other than 'school bus yellow' and remove most of the safety lighting.  The side door and wheel chair lift will aid in loading and unloading heavy equipment, racks of hot dog and hamburger buns, cases of sweet corn, soda pop and bottled water and coolers full of meat.

Here is how the money will be spent:
$4000 to purchase a used school bus
$1000 for taxes, license, registration and insurance
$2000 to repaint the school bus
$1000 for materials to make racks and install a hitch

Any additional funds raised will be spent to upgrade the equipment, provide necessary maintenance to the bus, meat roaster and corn roaster, help pay my on-going monthly warehouse rent and to purchase a generator.

This spring, summer and fall, I am already booked to cook at the Linden Hills Festival, Hastings Police Week, Twin Cities VW Bug-In, Pratt Ice Cream Social, PRIDE Family picnic, PRIDE Festival Volunteer Food tent, Stand Down for homeless vets, Como Cookout, Northern Lights Women's Softball League year end tournament.
