Shields of Hope (an official 501c3) has partnered with Great Wolf Lodge to provide a fun-filled, therapeutic weekend retreat for families suffering from cancer. Cancer affects more than the fighter, it affects the entire family. It often cripples the family from having quality time together because of treatment and its side affects, doctor appointments and medical bills.
This event will be held October 16-18, 2015 and will provide the opportunity for families to retreat away from the chaos and stress of doctor appointments, fear of the unknown and the stress that cancer inflicts on the family. A fun-filled time of smiles, laughter and making positive memories.
A chance for families to connect and talk with professional counselors about how parents can help their children through this difficult time. A time to provide children with healthy ways of coping with the stress this causes on them and their parents. A chance for everyone to receive additional therapy and other professional resources.
All families will be pampered the entire weekend with transportation, lodging, meals, activities and of course the water park. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to provide up to 30 families a cost-free and stress free weekend retreat. Please consider a donation or even sponsoring an entire family.
Families can be nominated by emailing [email redacted] and completing an application. All applications will be reviewed and selected by a committee. We cannot guarantee that every family nominated will be able to attend.
100% of the money stays local supporting those in our own community!!
