Cinda Yager Medical Expense Fund

Dear Friends –

One of our strong Minnesota Orchestra supporters has been suffering recently, and this is an opportunity for us to help her! I'm referring to Cinda Yager, who is a writer (author of Perceval's Secret, available from Amazon as an e-book at the link) and blogger (Anatomy of Perceval). One reader described her book as follows: “An intriguing vision of a near future. Beautifully set in Vienna and grounded in details of the classical music world, but the emotionally wrenching plot will be what I'll remember most.”

During and after the Minnesota Orchestra lockout, she posted numerous insightful articles in her  “Eyes on Life” blog, which has over 1,000 followers.

As some of you who follow her know, Cinda has been through a horrendous year. She had major surgery last summer and a long, difficult recovery. After that, she was excited to get a job at the Minnesota Orchestra ticket office. Meanwhile, she had a huge problem with MNSure getting insurance coverage for 2015. MNSure incorrectly and without her knowledge put her on Medical Assistance although she already had health insurance. When the problem was discovered, she had a heck of a time getting them to take her off Medical Assistance so she could enroll in regular health insurance for 2015. At the very last moment, this came through, thankfully, because she would soon need it!

In January, Cinda developed pneumonia and was hospitalized. She recovered and was sent home. But about two weeks later, she spiked a fever, had chills, and became short of breath. At this point, she was hospitalized again. Her doctors worked hard to figure out what was happening.  She was finally diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. Fortunately, the cause was not due to a malignancy, but is still a very challenging disease. Cinda has returned home but is required to be on oxygen and cannot work until the condition improves.

Obviously it's pretty difficult for Cinda to do too much these days, especially in terms of getting out. She has also incurred a lot of bills for hospitalization, doctors, medications, equipment and supplies. Even with medical insurance, she faces a slew of expenses due to deductibles, co-payments and non-covered items. Additional expenses include transportation for medical care and additional assistance of various kinds that are needed while she is recovering. Being unable to work certainly makes paying these expense more difficult!

Please join me in helping a fellow member of our orchestra-loving community and please give generously!

Thank you!
