My name is Cheryl Shaw and my sister Michelle Cusick Kronish and I are Amy Shaw Brown's sisters.
In August of 2014 Amy was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer, and more recently in February, she was diagnosed with Metastasis to her liver. In October she had surgery to remove the upper left lobe of her lung. Because this cancer makes her sodium level drop to critical levels she must take a sodium pill that costs $200 dollars. Amy has gone through a round of chemo for her lung cancer diagnosis that was 3 times a week for 3 months, and then a double dose of Radiation (twice a day for 30 days). In January she had brain radiation in hopes that the cancer would not go to her brain. She is now going for once a week chemo for her liver.
Because of her health she cannot work.
As the saying goes, "When it rains, it pours" well in her case, that is exactly what is happening right now. Today (March 24th), Amy's daughter was driving the family car to pick up Amy's prescriptions and was hit by a young man high on drugs and the vehicle was totalled. They need a vehicle to get Amy back and forth to her Chemo treatments, and Doctor visits and everthing else that comes with having been diagnosed with cancer.
With her most recent diagnosis, the Doctors have said there is no cure. So what we are trying to do is get her more time with treatment and to help provide her with a better Quality of Life for the time that she does have left. We would love to be able to help her check off some of the things she has on her bucket list. She is not asking for much, just a weekend down the shore to put her "Ass in the sand and her toes in the water", as her favorite country band "The Zac Brown Band" sings about.
We are trying to raise money for her medical bills, which seem to be mounting by the minute. As her family, we do not have the resourses to provide this for her alone, so we are asking for your help. Every little bit helps, and if you could say a little prayer too, we would be thankful.
