Project Parent

Project Parent was founded in 2014 by Kate Stanforth, who recieved funding to set up her own community interest idea. Kate is 21 years old and suffers from a range of chronic conditions, including EDS and ME. After spending a lot of time in hospital herself, she realised there was a niche in the market for supporting parents of children who were in hospital - particularly at Christmas. She soon found out that come Christmas time there were lots of donations and visits for the children, but their parents, who often are their primary carers, were left with nothing. The children were often too poorly to go out to buy presents for their mums & dads, and during the difficult time of having a child in hospital, were often forgotten about. But, when Project Parent was founded, this soon changed. Now, after supporting the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle for our first year, we have now expanded to help 5 hospitals all around the UK, creating many smiles on the way.

The money raised through this page will be used to purchase the contants of the gift bags for 2016. We have no funding next year so have the huge task of needing to raise £2,500 just to match the output of boxes we have sent this year. But, whether we reach this target or not, we will run the project and utilaise as many gift bags as possible to go around the UK. The dream would be to carry on expanding this project as we all have so many ideas, but as always, funding is an issue.

Whether it's £1 or £100 all the money goes into making these bags and creating all these smiles. 2015 has been a stressful and busy year yet we managed to get over 200 boxes distributed.
