Dancin In A Winter Wonderland

Donation protected
Hello!

With Dancin' in a Winter Wonderland less than three weeks away, we wanted to send this out to you guys because we know that the closer it gets to Christmas the crazier we all with planning winter vacations, buying gifts for our friends and family, preparing for family to come in town, the list goes on and on. There are countless worthy charities and foundations that we could have chosen to be the beneficiary of our December philanthropy event, but we chose the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America because of the special connection it has to two of our company members' families. We currently have two company members, Grace Bradbury-Teen and Julianne Swaykus-Senior, who have brothers diagnosed with Crohn's disease.

About the Disease:
For those of you who do not know, Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (as is ulcerative colitis) which affects as many as 1.4 million Americans. Statistics show that every 1 in every 200 people have either Crohn's or Colitis. IBD diseases are chronic, life-long conditions that can be treated, but not cured and have a significant affect on patients' quality of life and a high financial burden on families. Crohn's disease often leads to an assortment of other symptoms and conditions including fistula, stricture (narrowing of intestine caused by scaring leading to intestinal blockage), abscess (collection of pus in the abdomen, pelvis, or anal area), malabsorption, malnutrition, redness/itchiness/pain in the eyes, mouth sores, joint swelling and pain, painful ulcerations, sores, and rashes on skin, osteoporosis, kidney stones, and many more. Although most individuals diagnosed with Crohn's disease are diagnosed after 15, it is rare in children younger than 8 and accordingly can be much more extensive and follow a more severe course than when it is diagnosed later. Some children with IBD experience delayed puberty and some fail to grow at a normal rate. Zachary Swaykus was diagnosed when he was 15 and even though a diagnosis before the age of 8 is extremely uncommon, Ryan Bradbury was diagnosed at the young age of 3, and their child's diagnosis has changed their families' dramatically.

About the CCFA:
The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) believes that by generating greater awareness, more progress can be made toward finding a cure. Every summer The CCFA offers a chance for children who suffer from these diseases to go to Camp Oasis. Ryan Bradbury has attended the last 3 years and loves every single minute of it! Lori Bradbury, Ryan's mom, says "it is truly a place where he doesn't feel alone and is around kids who are going through the same things he is going through. It has definitely been a God send for him."

The CCFA is supported solely by individual, foundation and corporate contributions and more than 81 cents of every dollar CCFA spends goes DIRECTLY into research and educational programs. Additionally, the CCFA is among the top rated charities in the American Institute of Philanthropy's Charity Rating Guide. Although we know that this time of year can be financially tight for most families, we feel as if we HAVE to do something to support this amazing cause.

About the Event:
Prodigy will be offering a day of holiday dance classes in all styles (ranging from Zumba to Pilates to Hip hop etc) from kids through adults (no experience required). Classes for the event are $10 per class or $30 for 4 classes and a warmup and those donations will go STRAIGHT to the CCFA. Additionally, we will be offering up many items for a silent auction  (items which are sponsored by many local retailers including Kendra Scott, Halfshells, Mama Pita, Mi Cocina, Lulu Lemon, Ken's Steakhouse, Mainstreet Bakery, and tons more!) and the first 30 people to register for a FULL DAY will get a free CHIPOTLE lunch! We want to encourage EVERYONE to attend--no dance experience needed! Dancers, dancers' friends, parents, parents' friends, current students, former students! We will also have a hot chocolate bar, ugly Christmas sweater contest, and prizes! We want to fill our studio up. The more people at the event, the more money we will be able to raise for this AMAZING CAUSE. Registration will be available on the Prodigy Dance website with payment online (www.prodigydancecentre.com) or by calling 972-prodigy and bringing CASH only to the event (we will be writing one giant check at end!).

Our Funding Campaign:
In addition to the donation for attending classes, we are setting up this GoFundMe account where people can donate any amount of additional money that they would like to. There is NO MINIMUM, and no matter what your donation $1 or $100, you will be making a huge impact. We know that Prodigy and all of North Texas has some of the most GENEROUS families out there and that with you guys' support we will make this event incredible!!!!
