Careful the Clown's Cancer Expenses

Donation protected

I have been clowning as Careful the Clown since 2004...

In July, 2010 I began having dizzy spells and vertigo attacks. On July 9th of 2011 I had a severe vertigo attack while driving home from work. Luckily, there was no other traffic, as I crossed over the center line. When I got home I called home and told them that I was unable to work for them anymore because my work involved a good amount of driving.
Then, in October I came down with a chest cold and went to a local clinic to make sure that I didn't have pneumonia. They sent me for tests and put me on antibiotics. They gave me follow-up tests and in December, 2011 as I was returning from a charity clown gig for a Rotary Banquet for Special Needs Children, the clinic called and ordered me to go to the hospital because a mass in my neck was compressing my jugular vein.
I was in the hospital for a week and underwent two needle biopsies. They informed me that I had advanced lung cancer and sent me to an oncologist who told me that I had Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer and needed to start Chemo therapy immediately. After 3 treatments, 3 weeks apart and 8-hours duration each time, tests showed that the tumor in my neck and the one in my left lung had disappeared. The nodes in my right lung were "unremarkable".  I had 3 more treatments for good measure. My 6th treatment was on June 1, 2012. I will have a PET scan on June 19th to determine if any cancer cells have escaped the treatment and settled in other parts of my body. The oncologist will see me on the 28th of June to inform me of the results.
Through a compassionate application I was put on Social Security Disability which covers my rent and my wife works part-time to meet the food and utility expenses as well as caring for me.
I have had good support from family and friends and the Clowning community from around the world. And, the prayers and my local church have sustained and helped me greatly. My oncologist and his staff have been wonderful. My surgeon has been exemplary. The hospital has been remarkable.
So, it is with the utmost humility that I find myself asking for donations in order to get me "over-the "“hump" to meet my Medical Expenses. The doctors have said that I have responded well to the treatments and that my prognosis could be 4-5 years. Maybe more !
I am hoping that I can recover enough energy to find some work or clown gigs locally by this Fall so that I can become financially independent again. I am not eligible for Medicare and I don't have Health Insurance. In lieu of financial help, I gladly accept prayers and "good vibes"!
