So much can happen in a year, especially when you

follow your heart with conviction.

In 2013, Alan Burns teamed up with Dr. Jill Stein, Green Party presidential candidate in 2012, to lead a 10-day global fast from Earth Day to May Day 2014, for the Global Climate convergence.

In January2014 , Alan mailed information to Yeb Sano at the
Climate Commission in Manila, Philippines, and brought Commissioner Sano onto that action, at the same time joining Yeb Sano’s global fast initiated after the Warsaw COP-19 talks. Which was then picked up by Climate Action Network, and became #FastfortheClimate.

Life can change with one email, you just have to send it.

Based in North Carolina, Alan created a non-profit company, Carolina Climate Action, to support the global action now spearheaded by Yeb Sano and became the U.S. representative for that movement now active in over 90 countries around the world.

Just like that, a journey begins

With supporters in Charlotte, monthly vigils were held as people fasted on the first day of each month in solidarity with those affected around the world by climate change, and to send a loud message, in a non-violent way, to insist that change happen now.

Seasons change and in a moment so can your life…..
forever

From October 2 to November 8 of 2014, a 40 day, 1,000 kilometer pilgrimage took
place in which Alan joined with Filipinos in the Climate Walk forJustice from Manila to Tacloban
in remembrance of Typhoon Haiyan which made landfall in November 2013  and devastated the city.

Let your life speak in color

Alan is now writing a book so that the journey may live
and he can bring it to life through his experience.
A 60-minute program is also being produced which will be available online and on YouTube early August.  Funds are needed to support these endeavors. The book and YouTube video will be published to raise awareness about the devastating effects of climate change; a percentage of the sales of the book will be donated to help rebuild the Filipino communities that Alan had the honor of traveling through last year.

The time is now and we will be heard

The Conference of Parties, or otherwise known as COP Talks, recommence in Paris this November and leaders from all nations will come together to discuss what must be done about climate change on a global scale.

Financial support is needed to assist Alan’s ongoing environmental work as he continues to support #FastfortheClimate in the approach to the Paris COP talks in December.  Alan will walk again with Yeb Saño and Filipinos who last year walked with him  from Manila to Tacloban for the anniversary of Typhoon Haiyan. The  1400 kilometer pilgrimage from Rome to Paris begins September 29 and reaches Paris November 28 as COP-21 begins. We need to keep pressure on  world leaders to act seriously on  climate change.
