Sabina's Accessible Wheelchair Car
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
My name is Sabina Piorkowski. I am 20 years old and I was born with Diastrophic Dysplasia, which is a form of Dwarfism that affects my bone development, causes joint deformities, and effects cartilage. This results in short stature, early onset joint pain (osteoarthritis) and the need for many corrective orthopedic surgeries (a total of 20 surgeries so far).
Now as an adult, being fully independent has become a problem. I have approximately 20 appointments each month with the need of my scooter to get to them, but without an accessible car, I cannot get there on my own. I have a 18 years old sister named Monika (who is average height) and a 6-year-old brother named Pawel (also born with Diastrophic Dysplasia, Autism and the need to use a feeding tube). In addition, he also uses a wheelchair for long distances and follow up post-surgeries. Currently my mom has to juggle 20-30 appointments monthly between us, which has become a very difficult task without a handicap accessible car.
I will now be entering my junior year at Rhode Island College with a double major in Computer Information Systems and Computer Science.
Now with all my appointments, school, work and shopping for necessities independently in addition to being able to hang out with friends, doing so without a handicap accessible car has become impossible. We have started this GoFundMe page to help offset the extreme expenses of purchasing a handicap accessible car.
We greatly appreciate your support and thank you in advance for every donation.
Sincerely,
Sabina Piorkowski
