I just want to first off thank you for coming & checking out this gofundme. I want to share with the world my story, and this will be my way.

My name is MacKenzie Walker. I am a 15 year old girl from Ontario.  When I was 13 years old, I weighed 227 pounds at my highest weight. As a teen in this day and age, you’re 20x more insecure. You live life with fear, you live life with a mental battle. You’re a living, breathing person.. but you’re not actually “living” life to its full potential. You’re trapped inside your own body. You scream for help, but really, the only person who can get you out..is you.

September 24th 2013, I MacKenzie Walker, as a 13 year old girl, decided it was my last & final time to get my life on track. No more going to sleep in fear of not waking up, no more thinking about things I can’t do because I’m overweight. No more using the “I’m big boned” excuse. I embarked on this journey & it was one that lead me somewhere I never would have guessed possible. A year and a half later, I am 100 pounds down from my highest weight of 227 pounds.

My journey has had its ups and downs. I’ve lost friends, made friends. I’ve done all the trends in the fitness world. I’ve had some negative comments & had positive. At age 14— I wrote my own book; A Journey Down A Road Less Traveled. In less than three months I impacted over 1000 peoples lives with my book. 1000!! But I never would have been able to be successful without the most important part of my journey: Instagram.

Instagram, to me, is like a second family. Everyday of my journey I post a picture or two—or three (haha) and as my journey went on, and the weight shredded off… my instagram took off. I have people from all around the world following my journey..for inspiration. People from England, to North Korea. A little girl like me, who lost a little weight…now has a chance to make a change, or a difference in peoples lives…everyday—all around the world.  These people sparked my drive to shine a light at the end of the tunnel for everyone. Show them a path, and a way out of whatever muck they’ve run into. I couldn’t imagine a life better than what I have. I am more than thankful for everything I have the opportunity to experience as a teenager. —

Now at age 15, I am asking for something I am very uncomfortable asking for. Help.

About a year ago, I went into my doctor questioning what to do about my leftover skin. His words are something I’d never forget. “Once you blow a ballon up, there will always be wrinkles in it.” My doctor recommended an abdominoplasty—so he sent out a few referrals. But they all came back with my age at the time,14, circled. I asked what to do next, and he told me I needed to maintain my weight, and do as much as I can to tighten the skin. So, knowing my drive, I did exactly what he said. I started lifting heavy, I was using skin tightening creams, wraps, you name it, I’ve done it. I must admit, I fell in love with bodybuilding about a month into it. I can say I’ve made some pretty decent gains for a young girl haha!

So now, a year has passed. I have been maintaining my weight for a year now. Between 126-129.

I suffer from a severe back pain daily, one that holds me back from focusing on school, one that holds me back from doing intense forms of cardio, one that makes it difficult to make it up the stairs with ease. I experience uncomfortable temperatures under my stomach hang, that cause me to sweat when I shouldn’t be, and make my body temperature rise. At 15 years old, no teenager should ever have to go through the pain I do daily. The mental struggle I face now, is much worse than it was 100 pounds ago. Its a scary place to be trapped in when you feel like you are lost. When you feel like you will have to grow up with the same pain every day—and there is literally nothing you can do about it.  After searching all around my home town and even in another country, I luckily live close to, I have been able to find a surgeon who is more than willing to remove my excess skin. I am more than thankful for this surgery, because it WILL change my life, and I will no longer have to carry this burden any longer.

On September 21st 2015, I will be going in for a consultation. At this time I will be arranging a date for skin removal surgery 1-3 months after the consultation. I have been quoted roughly $8900 which will include my hospital fees, the surgery & the consultation rate.  I am not one to ask for help, but in this case… I must.

Every cent & dollar counts. I cannot thank you enough for your support and generosity. You will be the one to contribute to a final change in my life. So I deeply appreciate it. Thank You.
