Tewksbury Hospital Cemetery Fund

I came across this old forgotten cemetery while walking my dog one morning. It is hidden in the woods of Tewksbury near the State Hospital. There about 9,000 bodies buried here all with identical numbered grave markers (if any) dating back to 1854. Most of these grave markers have been covered over time with brush and dirt. Many were Irish Paupers, unwanted illegitimate children, freed Slaves and people that were perceived to be "insane" at the time. These are people that were  forgotten about in life and now again in death. I was terribly moved by this and plan to bring awareness to this State owned cemetery. We had 2 very successful voluntery cleanups  but the task is so huge that the surface was only scratched.  These funds will go towards our next cleanup in the October 21st.
